Giddings, Tx Thursday, May 15,2008

Great set-up with all of the great help from the Giddings High School men and women. They were terrific. Had an outstanding opening ceremony with a Gold Star Mother to place the gold star wreath in honor of her daughter who gave her life for our country in Iraq and all of the other mother's who have lost son's and daughter's.
Students from around the county came to visit the memorial and all of the exhibits. Tomorrow will be as many or more.

Mothers Day Sunday

A great Mother's day ceremony and closing ceremony later in the day. Good turnout and flowers for all of the mothers. A moving tribute to two gold star mothers was done at the Mother's day ceremony. Each received a set of gold dog tags with their son's names on them exactly like the ones in our display. Many of the pictures today are of some of the mothers in attendance. Thank you to all for a great event. A little weather doesn't dampen the spirit and patriotism of this community.

Sat Morning

Friday was another rainy day for the most part. But it did not stop people from coming out and enjoying all of the exhibits. While the wall is outside, all of the other exhibits are inside the armory. We had hundreds of students visit and learn about the history shown here. Looking forward to what should be a busy day and no rain forcast for much of the day.

Arrival and Escort into Desoto, Mo

Great escort in spite of the heavy rain. Good turn out of motorcycles and thanks to all of law enforcement for helping to keep it a safe run from St. Louis to Desoto. Lots of folks out honoring the arrival of the wall in spite of the rain. A great tribute to the patriotism in this part of the country.

We had a full house for the afternoon ceremony and despite the weather, a good turnout today. Lots of interest in all of the displays and with being inside folks could comfortably stay and visit with old and new friends.
